A Wee Bit About Min

“I am passionate about creating art that tells a compelling story.

As a sculptor my preferred medium is clay. I love how it feels and how quickly the form takes on a life and personality of its own. I am particularly drawn towards sculpting creatures and figurative females who tell their unique story, that creates intrigue, draws the viewer in, willing them to touch, which I actively encourage.

I believe art should be captivating and always evoke an emotional response!

I sculpt in many mediums and finishes, although I particularly love casting my sculptures in Foundry Bronze. Choosing different patina finishes on each individual sculpture, of my limited editions, is exciting and brings the entire process together beautifully.”

The Olden Days… I read Economics and Psychology at The University of Auckland, New Zealand and started my career in the legal corporate world with achievements from winning ‘The Ritz Hotel’ London their Gaming Licence, on appeal by the Gaming Board for Great Britain in 1995, to writing two Published White Papers for the European Union Government on ‘Money Laundering’ and ‘Problem Gaming’. I was also a Qualified UK High Court Expert Witness & Specialist in Licensing Law in Gaming. I founded a successful Marketing Communications company in London with offices in Hong Kong and Vancouver, BC, representing esteemed clients from The Ritz, London, West Hollywood Travel & Tourism Board to PriceWaterhouseCoopers (Europe).

Curveballs… As life has it, my career was brought to an abrupt standstill when my young son became critically ill at four years old. I turned my energy and dedication to looking after this wee soul, and my family. I became an advocate for mental health in children producing documentaries and working with charities to increase awareness and reduce the stigma attached to mental illness.

Through the lens… My life turned back to the Arts and I worked as a professional photographer for FORD Models Inc. in San Francisco. On the opposite end of the spectrum I was also a professional sports photographer in Cycling and photographed Tour of California, Tour of Utah and Tour of Rwanda amongst others. Wildlife Photography is another one of my passions, and very much a privilege. My film career developed and since my first debut to the screen in 2015, I have been fortunate enough to win over 21 IMDb International Film Awards and been a finalist in over half a dozen. I was humbled to be awarded the prestigious Industry Choice Award (ICA), at Dances With Films in 2017 for Best Short Film (Red), on Early Onset Alzheimer's.

Adversity… During lockdown in 2021, I contracted COVID-19 twice and was hit with two life-threatening illnesses that resulted in hospitalisation. It was an extremely low time and highlighted how precious and unpredictable life is. I made a conscious decision to embrace the beauty of life and cherish every day with my gorgeous rockstar husband and family.

I realised that in order to heal, I needed to find peace and balance in my day-to-day life. I needed to learn how to find stillness in movement and discover light in darkness.

In the midst of adversity, I found solace in the process of sculpting. It brought me a sense of joy and fulfilment that helped me navigate through the challenges I faced. It allowed me to find beauty in the midst of chaos, to create something meaningful out of the raw materials I had been given. It gave me the strength to heal.

Through adversity came beauty and strength…
