Kulinda
Swahili for "Protect"

Kulinda is a foundry bronze sculpture inspired by Willow, a breathtakingly elegant cheetah and one of the cherished residents at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent. Though she has not yet had cubs, Willow is part of the sanctuary’s vital breeding programme, a carefully managed effort to ensure the survival of this critically endangered species.

This sculpture imagines Willow as a future mother, tenderly watching over her cub. The name Kulinda, meaning to protect in Swahili, reflects both the fierce guardianship of a mother and the broader efforts of sanctuaries like The Big Cat Sanctuary who work tirelessly to safeguard the future of big cats.

Cheetahs have long held a special place in my heart, their speed, their fragility, and their gentleness. They don’t roar like other big cats; instead, they purr, chirp, and even meow, forming deep bonds with their keepers and each other. This quiet grace and emotional depth are what I strive to capture in my work.

A percentage of each sculpture sold goes directly toward conservation initiatives directly to The Big Cat Santuary, in support of both the animals that inspire me and the people working to protect them.

Please visit The Big Cat Sanctuary’s website where you will learn more about their conservation and breeding programmes. I strongly urge you to become and member and go and visit this fabulous sanctuary! You can adopt any of these gorgeous big cats!

With love and massive respect,
